If you have never read Dream Snow by Eric Carle, you are in for a treat! It is one of my favorite books for the Holiday season and my kids love it too! Within the book, the farmer dreams that snow has blanketed him and his animals. After reading this amazing book, we wanted to create a fun Dream Snow inspired ornament!
To create this ornament you will need:
- Printed ornament template (freebie!) on cardstock
-A printed picture of your child
-Lamination sheet (cut in half)
-Ribbon or string
Start by printing out the ornament template onto a piece of cardstock. Cut out the center and add your child's photo (cut to fit) on the back. Decorate the ornament. Children can color it or you can add glitter like we did. I went a step farther and laminated the ornament after the glitter was on. I wanted to make sure this ornament was around for years to come! I then cut a piece of a lamination into the shape of the ornament. Children painted the non-shiny side of the lamination with white paint to resemble snow. I then attached the snow covered clear paper to the front of the ornament. I used eyelets to attach the two together, but you could easily use staples. Punch a hole in the top of the ornament and add ribbon or string. Now, your Dream Snow Ornament is ready to hang on the tree!
